Matt Veitch (shown above) is one of the creative lads from This Is Photography. He recently got in contact with us in regards to his trip travelling along the Kokoda Trail.
He was selected by the NSW Police Legacy to follow in the footsteps of the diggers who fought to keep the Japanese from reaching Australian soil on the Kokoda Track. We organised a care package with brand new tees and hats for him to take
along his journey and hand out to under privileged children in the remote villages along the Kokoda Track.
The children in these remote villages get new or hand me down clothes once every few years and only have 1 or 2 pairs of clothes if they are lucky. When Matt handed the AFENDS clothes to the kids their faces lit up with smiles from ear to ear, their little bodies were swamped with the oversized shirts, which I’m sure they will wear endlessly for many years to come.
Over Matts treacherous 8-day trek he passed through countless villages all with children in ripped up 80’s & 90’s clothing. Which made it hard to select what kids in what village I should hand the clothes out to.
